Jaspers Brush

This expansive Jaspers Brush property has been one of Formed Gardens most exciting South Coast projects to date.  Working with return Sydney clients on their second Formed Gardens design and build, the brief was to create a considered natural holiday sanctuary with swimming pool, recreation space and outdoor dining options that catered for the extended family including a clan of grandchildren.

Collaboration with the architect (Robertson Collectif) and building team (Arthouse Projects) was fundamental to the success of the Jaspers Brush House.  The landscape and building design given the scale and detail, had to in many ways evolve on-site, requiring a building team that understood the vision and had the ability to workshop ideas and execute with a level of interpretation.

Incorporating the natural surroundings and architectural features of the home into the landscape design was crucial.  On a site with abundant natural beauty, it was important for the landscape to blend with its surroundings and help settle the building/architecture into the site.  Ensuring that landscape and architecture were speaking the same language was integral to achieving a harmonious outcome. Threading the stone element through the house and garden exemplifies this approach.

Sustainability plays an integral role in all Formed Garden's landscape projects, particularly in light of a warming climate, rising material costs, and transportation challenges. Here we used locally sourced stone materials and bulk products, as well as low water use native plant species that can handle variabilities in weather/climate once established.

Being a holiday home, the longevity and ease of maintenance for landscaping elements was a key consideration. This was achieved by using materials such as sandstone, granite, crushed gravel, finished concrete, and stoneset that will naturally stand the test of time and age gracefully within their environment without needing to be constantly cleaned.

The swimming pool design and operation works on the same principle - being a Naked Freshwater System, equipped with heat pump, cover and Wi-Fi enabled automation, this allows the owner to manage operations from home and ultimately reduce run times of equipment when the pool is not being used to save energy and power. Particularly important when all your onsite power comes from the sun !
