The new living spaces open up to the central garden on three sides allowing light and air to flow through, bringing a calming quality and a lush green outlook from inside.

Concrete, corten, and sandstone in the hardscape reference the colours and materiality of the existing brick and stone cottage.

These landscape materials aim to interweave the old with new. Finishes move from rock-faced sandstone blocks matching the existing foundations, through to solid sawn sandstone blocks and linear concrete slabs for a more contemporary feel that blends with the crisp palette of the new rear extension.

A simple mound of spreading Jasmine and Pratia groundcovers resolves the level change in the garden areas. And a deciduous Natchez Crepe Myrtle selected to fill, but not overpower the space, allows winter sun to stream in, and a lush dappled canopy in summer.

In the rear, a generous entertaining terrace and pool link to open lawns, established perimeter hedges, and stone seating walls to draw you out into the garden. A majestic Eucalyptus overhead provides shelter and further invitation out into the gardens to explore and to relax.
